Tottenham Hotspur have their eye on Algerian attacking midfielder Yacine Brahaimi, according to the Mirror, as new manager Mauricio Pochettino looks to put his stamp on the squad he has inherited at White Hart Lane.
Brahimi enjoyed a superb 2014 FIFA World Cup for the Desert Foxes, who were only eliminated after taking Germany to extra time, with his versatile and creative players across the attacking line making him one of the team’s key players.
Tottenham already have one star of the Algerian squad at the club in the form of teenage midfielder Nabil Bentaleb, who broke into the first team under Tim Sherwood next season, something that could persuade Brahimi that the move is for him in the face of apparent interest from AS Roma and Everton.
The 24 year-old is suggested in the report to be keen on a big move to further his career, after making his loan spell with La Liga club Granada from Ligue 1 outfit Rennes permanent in 2013.
The Paris-born player, who qualifies for Algeria through his parents, came through the youth system at Rennes but made just 38 Ligue 1 appearances for the club in between loan spells with the Spanish club and Clermont Foot.
Tottenham are not short of players who operate in the attacking midfield positions, but it is uncertain whether the club can coax form out of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Erik Lamela or even whether they will be staying at the club for the long term.
