Hope Solo, one of the most famous faces in women’s football and the USA national team’s goalkeeper, has been arrested after reports of a disturbance at her residence in Seattle, where Solo and husband Jerramy Stevens were hosting a party, report the Daily Star.

Solo, who has represented her country 152 times, is believed to have attacked her sister and nephew during a large party at the house in the Kirkland district of Seattle.

The 32 year-old, who plays for the Seattle Reign, has been one of the most recognisable faces of the women’s game ever since she made her debut for the Philadelphia Charge in 2001, but particularly once she established herself as first choice for the national team.

Solo’s international women’s career has seen her pick up two Olympic gold medals, the pinnacle of a career that has taken in much of the span of female football’s recent rise to prominence.

Solo and Stevens have a history of domestic incidents, with Stevens having been arrested in November 2012 on suspicion of attacking Solo, just 24 hours before the pair would go on to marry.

The Seattle Reign are due to face the Western New York Flash this Sunday, but it is not yet known whether Solo is expected to be involved for her club side.
