It’s hardly been a great debut World Cup for this Southampton captain, with two substitute appearances for England in two 2-1 losses to Italy and Uruguay.
However, Rodgers is still keen to sign the 26-year-old, although has already had a £25m bid for the attacking midfielder rejected by the Saints and is reluctant to go any higher.
