Pop star Rihanna gutted to hear news that Real Madrid and Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo could miss the rest of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo could be out of the 2014 FIFA World Cup after limping out of training with the Portuguese national team early yesterday.
The news caused great distress to the Barbadian pop star Rihanna.
The S&M singer’s own nation did not qualify for this year’s tournament, but she has still found much enjoyment in watching some of the biggest nations – tweeting throughout Australia v Netherlands yesterday.
Football – or soccer – has typically been frowned upon and castigated in Rihanna’s resident nation of the United States of America, but the sport has enjoyed something of a surge in popularity over the last decade.
That is in part down to the continued growth and strength of MLS, and the accessibility of the European and international game on American television, but celebrities such as Rihanna getting involved will do no harm at all either.
