Chelsea are also in the hunt for Hamburg’s Calhanoglu.
Premier League giants Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are all interested in acquiring the services of highly rated Hamburg starlet Hakan Calhanoglu, reports the Daily Express.
The 20-year old attacking midfielder is believed to be a rapidly rising star in Germany, and netted 11 goals in his very first season in the top tier of German football.
While the likes of Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers have extensively scouted the bright talent, Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen have claimed that the Turkish international is close to signing for them.
“Calhanoglu should be our chief transfer,” Leverkusen CEO Michael Schade said.
“HSV have been given our written offer. We are clear with the player. He has verbally accepted our offer and only wants to come to us. He has clearly told Hamburg that.”
Despite Calhanoglu’s verbal agreement with Leverkusen, the English trio could still have a chance of snapping him up if they present a more lucrative offer for the £10 million rated prospect.
In light of the same the aforementioned daily reports that all three English giants are preparing late bids to try and land the German sensation.
