Nakata made history in the mid-90s by becoming the first Japanese player to feature in Serie A when he signed for Perugia. A top talent, he spent the next few years in Italy with sides like Parma and Roma before heading to the Premier League for a short spell with Bolton Wanderers. He called it a day after his involvement in the 2006 World Cup and retired to a modelling career. He wasn’t known as the ‘Japanese David Beckham for nothing!
