The 31 year old Dutch international left Tottenham for the Bundesliga two years ago but having seen his side narrowly avoid the drop to Germany’s second tier the creative midfielder may be open to a move back to the Premier League.
Redknapp knows the veteran playmaker well from his time in charge of the north London side and is no doubt keen on strengthening his squad as QPR look to retain their top tier status next term.
Van der Vaart enjoyed two successful seasons at Tottenham, scoring 28 goals in 78 appearances, and may feel that a high-profile move back to England could aid his push to reclaim a spot in the Dutch national team set-up.
The Hamburg man did make it into Louis van Gaal’s 30 man provisional squad for the 2014 World Cup finals but didn’t make the final cut after suffering an ankle injury before the tournament.
