Arsenal Unlikely To Sign Former Star As He Performs U-Turn On Transfer

Former Arsenal forward Vela does not fancy Emirates return.

Arsenal’s interest in activating a buy-back option for their former forward Carlos Vela could now go in vain as the Mexican does not favour a return to the Emirates Stadium.

Real Sociedad President Jokin Aperribay has stated that the 25-year old wants to stay on at the club, which now changes equations pertaining to the £3.2 million buy-back clause that the Gunners have on the forward.

The North London club could now be forced to sell their buy-back clause for the best possible deal, and it seems as though Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger is not any closer to landing another striker reinforcement after all.

Vela started just three Premier League games in six seasons on the Wenger’s roster, but he now is one of La Liga’s most prolific forwards after netting 21 and assisting 13 goals this past season with Sociedad.

“We are fortunate that the player is keen to stay in San Sebastian with us and that’s an important factor for Real Sociedad,” Aperribay was quoted by the Daily Star.

These statements from the Spanish club’s chief come just a day after Sociedad were resigned to losing the Mexican as Arsenal wanted to activate their buy-back option.
