Injuries left prolific forward unhappy at Old Trafford.

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has admitted to feeling despondent during his injury troubles last season, but is now delighted to have those troubles behind him, reports Goal.com.
The Dutchman had enjoyed two injury-free seasons from 2011-13, but his most recent campaign was badly curtailed by a string of problems. This saw RVP make just 18 Premier League starts for United last season, although he did manage 12 goals in that time.
“Over the last few years I put down the best series of my career. I played 93 matches in the Premier League in a row. Most of them as a starter, some as sub. I never thought about injuries,” he told Metro Holland.
“But this season I had three, where I was out for at least a month every time. Sometimes I got despondent of it. It started with something small.
“I had a broken toe and because of that I started to walking different, which had consequences for the rest of my body.”
Fortunately for his national side, Netherlands, he appears to be over those problems and is raring to go at the World Cup when the Dutch take on Spain on Friday. He is well aware that he has failed to perform on the biggest stage in the game in the past and is keen to put that right.
“I’ve scored two goals during a World Cup and those numbers aren’t pretty. I want more, more more goals. The World Cup can finally start.”
Those two goals came against Ivory Coast back in 2006 and then against Cameroon four years ago. He will have a chance to score against non-African teams for the first time this summer as he faces Spain, Chile and Australia.
