Toffees hoping to bring Spain international to Goodison Park.
Check in to Spain vs Netherlands
Everton are looking to exploit their positive relationship with Barcelona again this season by bringing in forward Cristian Tello from the Catalan side, according to reports in Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.
The Spain international is reportedly keen to leave the Nou Camp after first team opportunities have proved limited since he made his debut in 2011. The attacker has made 22 La Liga appearances for Barca in each of the last two seasons, although managed only a solitary league goal in the campaign that has just come to an end.
Everton boss Roberto Martinez is extremely keen to add Tello to his attacking options as he looks to rebuild his side for next season. With first-choice centre forward Romelu Lukaku’s loan spell coming to an end, Martinez’s options in attack are limited.
The Toffees took Barca’s Gerard Deulofeu on loan last season and the Spaniards were reportedly very pleased with how his services were employed on Merseyside. A loan switch could be on the cards again between the two clubs with Tello moving to Goodison Park.
Martinez will be keen to make the most of this blossoming relationship between the clubs as he could have plenty of competition for Tello’s signature. Premier League rivals Tottenham and Liverpool are also thought to be interested in his services, as are a number of sides from around the continent.
