Chelsea striker set for exit.
Check in to Belgium vs Algeria
Romelu Lukaku could be set for yet another loan move away from parent club Chelsea as the striker is linked with a short-term switch to La Liga champions Atletico Madrid, reports the Daily Express.
Chelsea are about to wrap up the signing of Atletico top scorer Diego Costa for £32 million, and it is thought that allowing Lukaku to move in the opposite direction on loan would make the deal for Costa easier to make.
The Belgian centre-forward scored 15 Premier League goals whilst on loan at Everton last season and struck 17 times for West Brom the previous campaign. At 6ft 3in he would be an immediate replacement for the strong and physical Costa who is heading to Stamford Bridge, and would be a financially viable one on a loan contract.
The Spain international, Costa, has reportedly already completed a medical at Chelsea after netting 36 times for Atletico last season across all competitions. Blues boss Jose Mourinho clearly sees Costa as a superior option to Lukaku and is happy to let the Belgian go to accommodate the Spaniard.
The 21-year-old Lukaku is set to perform for Belgium at the World Cup but may miss his country’s opening game against Algeria on 17 June after picking up an ankle knock in a friendly win over Tunisia on Saturday.
