Arsenal activate buy-back clause for La Liga striker.
Check in to Mexico vs Cameroon
Arsenal look ready to activate a buy-back clause in the contract of Real Sociedad star Carlos Vela and bring the Mexican forward back to the Emirates Stadium for just £3.25m, according to the Sun.
The 25-year-old did not make a significant impact at Arsenal during his first spell with the club, but has since impressed greatly with Basque giants Sociedad, scoring 21 goals last season and laying on a further 13 assists for his team-mates.
Comfortable in a variety of attacking roles, Vela is now believed to be valued by his club at around £25m, but Arsenal seemingly have the option to sign him back for a fraction of that price, and are now thought to be working on bringing the player back to the club this summer.
Reports also suggest that La Liga champions Atletico Madrid are also keen on signing the talented attacker, and it remains to be seen if the player himself will be open to re-joining the Gunners after struggling to adapt in England last time round.
Vela only made 62 appearances for the north London side in three seasons with the club, with most of his playing time coming in the League Cup as part of Arsene Wenger’s policy of playing weakened lineups in the competition.
