AS Roma Ready £16m Bid To Beat Premier League Suitors To Sign ‘New Messi’

Roma to bid for Argentine starlet.

Roma are reportedly ready to make a bid of around £16m to Hellas Verona to sign highly-rated Argentine starlet Juan Iturbe, according to SportMediaSet.it.

The 21-year-old, who has been compared with Barcelona star Lionel Messi, is attracting plenty of interest from the Premier League’s big sides as well as from European champions Real Madrid in this summer’s transfer window.

Iturbe has only recently completed a permanent move to Verona from Porto after spending the 2013/14 season on loan with the Serie A side, but he could now be about to make a quick exit from the club as Roma look set to step up their interest in the attacking midfielder.

Rudi Garcia’s side enjoyed a good season this year, challenging for the title and finishing second to Juventus in the Italian top flight, and are now looking to strengthen their squad to cope with the extra demands of Champions League football next term.

Iturbe has emerged as a priority for the Stadio Olimpico outfit, who could also be willing to sell Serbian winger Adem Ljajic – another player linked several times with English clubs – to help fund the move.

This will come as a blow to the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City, who had all hoped to get their hands on this exciting talent.
