Manchester United could bring exciting winger to Old Trafford for just £12 million, beating off interest from rivals Liverpool.
Manchester United are hoping to get one over their arch rivals Liverpool this summer by completing a £12 million swoop of Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka, reports talkSPORT.
The Reds have been extensively tracking the Ukrainian star and were very close to signing him on January transfer deadline day this year before the move fell through.
Man Utd meanwhile, have sneaked in under the radar for Konoplyanka after their new boss Louis Van Gaal expressed his interested in the technically gifted winger.
Reports suggest that the Red Devils may be able to trigger a release clause with their bid worth £12 million, and could therefore be very close to pulling off the transfer.
“Officially, there’s a specific amount for which we don’t have the right to not release Konoplyanka,” a source told talkSPORT.
“If Man United offer favourable conditions and agree terms with Konoplyanka, then no one can do anything.”
One will have to wait and watch whether Liverpool respond by matching United’s bid for their long term target, or if their manager Brendan Rodgers has decided to give up on Konoplyanka and move for other targets instead.
