Newcastle To Tempt France International With Mammoth Wages

The Magpies want to replace Remy with his international teammate Gomis.

Newcastle United have offered a hefty £85,000 per week wage to Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis, who will be a free-agent this summer, reports the Mirror.

Newcastle will be without the services of loan signing Loic Remy next season, and their manager Alan Pardew is now intent on signing another high scoring forward to add goals to his team.

Pardew believes that the experienced Gomis will do the trick for the Magpies, but reports suggest that the 28-year old now wants a £100,000 per week deal at St James’ Park. Gomis has 12 caps for the French national team and has also been in good form this season, having scored 24 goals in all competitions.

Gomis does not want to renew his contract with Lyon though, which means that he would be a free agent in the summer and several interested parties from the Premier League in Sunderland, Swansea City and West Ham United are keen on signing him.
