Villareal have identified the fan who threw at banana at Barcelona’s Dani Alves and banned him for life from El Madrigal.

In a statement on their official website, the Yellow Submarine said they ‘deeply regretted’ the incident and insisted the club rejected any act that goes against the principles of fair play and sportsmanship including ‘violence , discrimination, racism and xenophobia.’
A banana was flung at Alves as the Brazilian was taken a corner during Barcelona’s 3-2 La Liga victory at El Madrigal.
Far from being perturbed, Alves ate the banana before taking the set-piece.
The player’s reaction has been widely praised and a number of footballers and fans have shown their support for Alves by positing pictures of themselves eating bananas on social media.
Alves posted this image on instagram, accompanied by the caption ‘My Brazil Brazilian Green, yellow, black, white and red.
