Wenger has been scouting Europe for players to add depth to his starting line up after sustaining a number of injuries this term that have ultimately derailed the side’s title challenge.
And he has targeted 22-year-old Ghanaian international Afriyie Acquah to add some steel into the middle of the park.
Acquah plays for Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, but is currently spending the season on loan with Serie A side Parma, where he has impressed with a stream of fine displays.
Reports in Italy are now claiming that Wenger will try and tempt the German side to sell by lining up a sizeable bid to lure him to the Emirates.
Arsenal are also thought to be hot on the trail of teenage Benfica star Goncalo Guedes.
Gossip in Portugal has claimed that Arsenal’s Giles Grimandi has had the 17-year-old scouted on numerous occasions and may move for the winger after learning that Benfica would accept a £6m offer to consider letting him go.
However, the Gunners will have their work cut out for them this summer as both AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund are said to be interested in bringing him on board after watching him help Benfica win the UEFA Youth League.
