South American forward suffers brutal injury.
Chilean international Junior Fernandes has been ruled out of this summer’s World Cup after suffering a horrific broken leg during Wednesday’s game between Dinamo Zagreb and Hajduk Split.
Fernandes, on loan at Dinamo from German giants Bayer Leverkusen, was taken out after scoring the second goal of a 3-0 victory and was forced to be carried off screaming in agony.
The 25-year-old has scored 12 goals in 26 appearances for the Croatian side this season and had been seen as one of Chile’s secret weapons ahead of the summer tournament.
