The north London club had been keeping close tabs out on the highly rated Germany international ever since the Gunners were first made aware of the player by Premier League rivals Manchester United, who have also been keen on landing Ginter.
In fact, Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger even sent his chief scout Steve Rowley over to Germany to watch the 20-year-old in action first hand, with the Frenchman receiving glowing reports back about Ginter.
However, it now appears as though the north Londoners have been beaten to the player’s signature by Dortmund, that is if recent reports back in Ginter’s homeland are to be believed, with Ginter having agreed to move to last season’s Uefa Champions League runners-up until 2018.
The defender, who at present is contracted to Freiburg until 2017, has enjoyed an outstanding campaign at the back for his club, with Ginter having managed to appear in 37 matches in total in all competitions, during which time he has scored three goals.
