The 19-year-old has only made a handful of appearances for his current club, but is widely considered to be one of the hottest young talents in Russian football at the moment.
Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan have also been tracking him, but it is the Gunners who are now said to be in the driving seat as Arsene Wenger has sought to see off the competition early by making a move to bring him to the Emirates before anybody else has a chance to prepare an offer.
According to reports, the Gunners have offered Rubin £2million for the striker, who was scouted playing for Iran’s Under-20 team last year.
Azmoun told the Russian press that Arsenal scouts had indeed approached him, and that a move to the north London outfit ‘would be a dream’.
Quick, skilful and agile, Azmoun only moved to Rubin in 2013 from Iranian Pro League outfit Sepahan Isfahan.
