Emirates Stadium side target Bundesliga youngster.
Arsenal are said to be taking a keen interest in Hamburg playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu according to the Daily Mail.
The 20 year old Turkish international has been likened to Gunners star Mesut Ozil and could well be ready to leave Hamburg, who are currently sit just above the relegation zone following a disastrous campaign.
Despite Hamburg’s poor standing Calhanoglu has managed to plunder eight goals in 20 Bundesliga starts this term and is considered one of the hottest prospects currently plying their trade in the German top tier.
A move for Calhanoglu would cost the North London club far less than a continued pursuit of Schalke’s Julian Draxler and may be a more likely capture for the Gunners.
Calhanoglu impressed during the FIFA Under 20 World Cup in 2013 and is a player that certainly adheres to Arsene Wenger’s transfer policy.
One does wonder however if the Emirates Stadium side is really in urgent need of a creative midfielder when other areas of their squad are probably in more urgent need of attention.
Arsenal could well do with striking alternatives to support Olivier Giroud and may well have to bring in a new right-back if they fail to persuade Bacary Sagna to sign a new contract.
