The third top scorer in Ligue 1 so far this term Alexandre Lacazette, has discussed the links to Premier League giants Liverpool, reports the Express.

The 22-year-old Frenchman has notched 13 goals so far for Lyon, impressing everyone with his ability to work hard when the opposition is in possession, and his clinical penalty box finishing.

While Lacazette has promised to do everything he can to help push Lyon up the table, he hasn’t ruled out a potential move away from his boyhood club.

“I want to go further, higher and, more importantly, help the team win because if I finish the season with 25 goals but we ended up in tenth, there will be disappointment, so I want to score to help the team,” the twice capped Frenchman told Canal+.

“Everything is going well at the moment, that’s for sure.

“If there really is a club that is interested in me and I cannot advance with Lyon, it will be discussed.”

Liverpool could be looking at Lacazette as a potential backup option for their brilliant current pairing of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge. Combined, the pair have scored 42 Premier League goals this term, but Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has little on the bench should one of them pick up an injury, with Iago Aspas not up to scratch, and Fabio Borini out on loan at Sunderland.

As a result, Liverpool could table a £10m offer at the end of the season for his services, although his price-tag will only increase if he keeps finding the back of the net in Lyon’s next ten matches.
