Astori is said to be high on David Moyes’ wish list after the United boss had the 27-year-old scouted on numerous occasions this term and he is expected to be the subject of a big money bid over the summer.
United had looked set for a battle to bring him on board, though, as Serie A giants Roma and AC Milan had also been in the running, but it is they who look ready to be disappointed after he admitted that he would love to play in the Premier League.
‘I am very attracted to the Premier League,’ he said.
‘It’s a beautiful league with many great teams. I would like to play there certainly.’
Cagliari have already conceded that they will lose the player at the end of the season and have sought to place a £10m price tag on his head to make sure they get what they want for him.
Astori has also highlighted his desire to sort his future out before the World Cup kicks off in June.
