Spurs’ technical director Franco Baldini has been using his extensive contact list in Serie A and is looking to open a dialogue with the Granata at the end of the season to see if they would be open to selling the talented 26-year-old.
Sources close to the north London club have claimed that Cerci has been identified as a potential replacement for record signing Erik Lamela, who has failed to assert himself within the squad this season and subsequently faces an uncertain future at the club.
Cerci has been capped nine times by Italy already, and is holding hopes of being called up for Cesare Prandelli’s World Cup squad this summer and his versatility is said to be one of the main attractions for Tim Sherwood as he can play on either wing or in a more central position as a second striker.
Sherwood has also been encouraged by the fact that Cerci only has just over 12 months remaining on his current deal at Torino.
