The Brazil-born attacker is currently enjoying yet another prolific campaign in front of goal in the Spanish capital, so much so that Costa has been attracting the attentions of a whole host of big-name clubs from across the Continent of late.

However, his employers in Spain are adamant that their star man will be going nowhere come the end of the season, with Atleti having already convinced the 25-year-old to put pen to paper on a contract extension that currently ties the Spain international to the club until June 30 2018.

And as part of that new deal, the size of the release clause in Costa’s contract was increased to a whopping 38m euros in light of Liverpool’s attempt to lure the striker to Anfield last summer after the Reds met the full value of the player’s trigger clause in his previous contract with the club.

But now Atletico’s bosses want to sit down with Costa again before the summer and renegotiate his release clause one more time.
