Old Trafford side set for massive summer.
Man United boss David Moyes is set for a massive transfer war-chest as his Old Trafford employers look to back him to the hilt with a windfall of around £110m this summer.
CaughtOffside understands that no expense will be spared as the Glazers seek to help Moyes to freshen up an ageing Man United squad whilst also looking to make long term plans under the Scot.
Moyes has been drawing up an extensive list of transfer targets and Man United will look to offset any potential issues with luring players to the club if Champions League football has not been secured for 2014/15 with the offer of highly lucrative long term deals.
Chief among the those on the Man United radar is Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus, who could be the latest big name to leave the Westfalenstadion side.
Moyes is keen to bring in the 24 year old German international as an added attacking option and is ready to offload Javier Hernandez & Shinji Kagawa to help make room for the former Borussia Monchengladbach man.
Reus has been a massive success since moving to Borussia Dortmund, scoring 30 goals and providing 20 assists in 78 appearances, this despite the club’s fall from Bundesliga title contenders to also-rans.
Dortmund are now some 20 points off Bayern Munich and were lucky to scrape through to the last 16 of the Champions League and having seen Mario Gotze leave for the Allianz Arena, and goal machine Robert Lewandowski set to follow suit, Reus could be tempted by a move to Man United.
Moyes is ready to freshen up his attacking options and as well as making Hernandez and Kagawa available for sale he is ready to cash-in on Ashley Young and Nani as he seeks to bring in more adaptable talents who can work across numerous roles in the final third, hence his capture of Juan Mata.
Man United are ready to offer up to £35m for Reus.
Ilkay Gundogan is another player on the Man United radar and a player the Premier League side are already in talks to capture.
Old Trafford boss David Moyes believes he is to close to agreeing a deal to sign the Borussia Dortmund midfielder with chief executive Ed Woodward, fresh from tying down Wayne Rooney to a new long term deal, set to complete a move to bring in the box to box performer.
Gundogan was pivotal in Borussia Dortmund’s run to the Champions League final last term and helped Klopp’s side to a domestic double in his first season with the club.
Should Moyes sign Gundogan then the likes of Anderson and Tom Cleverley could well be on their way out.
In an effort to freshen up his back-line David Moyes is ready to make a move for Real Madrid youngster Raphael Varane.
The 20 year old is said to have a £25m release clause that Man United are happy to trigger though Moyes will probably have to fight Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho to land the impressive young French international.
During Mourinho’s last season at the Bernabeu Varane was afforded a great deal of responsibility, the centre-back making 28 starts in all competitions, but this season he’s managed just four La Liga starts and could be ready to consider a move to reunite with his former manager.
However Moyes will look to beat Mourinho to the starlet’s signature with a guarantee of first team football, which may be harder for the Blues boss to match.
Varane would have to battle the likes of David Luiz, Gary Cahill, Branislav Ivanovic and probably John Terry, dependent on a contract extension, for a centre-back berth. However with both Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand set to leave in the summer the former Lens man may find Man United an easier nut to crack.
With Patrice Evra also likely to leave in the summer David Moyes will push hard to bring in Southampton teenager Luke Shaw, who is now the Man United manager’s first choice to replace the French veteran.
Having attempted to land Leighton Baines and Fabio Coentrao from Everton and Real Madrid respectively David Moyes is ready to switch his attention to the highly rated England Under 21 international, who is a better fit for his long term Man United squad building plans.
Man United are ready to make an opening offer of as much as £18m for Shaw, an offer that the south-coast side may struggle to turn down.
There is also reported interest from Chelsea.
Shaw has matured into a quality consistent performer and has more than proven himself at Premier League level and is a player with a bright future and a player Moyes hopes to welcome in this summer.
