Ligue 1 giants Monaco are set to go up against Liverpool for the signature of Hannover goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler this summer, according to Inside Futbol.

The German international has been linked with a move to Merseyside at various points over the course of the season and is expected to move on at the end of the season thanks to a clause in his contract that will allow him to leave for as little as €8m.
The Reds currently have Belgian international Simon Mignolet in between the sticks but after a solid start to the campaign his form has began to dip a little, leading them to be linked with a move for the 25-year-old.
However, Monaco are also said to be keen and their economic resources mean that the Germans would have little resistance in making him stay.
The goalkeeper has also expressed a desire to test himself on the European stage and with Hannover currently sat in 11th place in the Bundesliga the likelihood of that doesn’t appear to be too positive.
“I would love to play in European competition and establish myself at international level,” he said.
