The 20 year old Chelsea man will be out of action for a month and given that the Belgian is only at the club on a temporary basis it makes sense for Toffees boss Roberto Martinez to look into other options.
This source claims that the Goodison Park side will attempt to land French international Gomis in a £3m deal
It’s an offer that cash strapped Lyon may accept as they stand to lose the experienced attacker on a free transfer in the summer when his contract comes to an end.
Newcastle United have long been linked with an interest in Gomis but Alan Pardew gave up on signing the 28 year old and instead brought in Dutchman Luuk de Jong on a loan deal from Borussia Monchengladbach.
Gomis has been scoring regularly in Ligue 1 for a number of seasons and has racked up a healthy 75 goals in the past four and a half seasons.
Everton certainly need to bring in a fresh striking options as loaned in AS Monaco man Lacina Traore is out with a hamstring injury and summer signing Arouna Kone is also sidelined.
