St James’ Park side want French international.
Check in to Newcastle United vs Sunderland
Newcastle United have launched a bid to sign Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier according to the BBC.
The Daily Mirror claim that the Magpies have offered £8m for the 23 year old as Alan Pardew looks to replace PSG bound Yohan Cabaye.
Clement has scored 12 goals in 89 appearances for Lyon and could perhaps be tempted by a move to the Premier League though boss Remi Garde has insisted he wouldn’t sell the playmaker this month.
Pardew is set to welcome in Borussia Monchengladbach forward Luuk de Jong with the Dutchman due for a medical ahead of a loan switch to St James’ Park.
The Newcastle United boss is keen to see his club re-invest the estimated £20m from the sale of Cabaye into new talented with director of football Joe Kinnear scouting possible targets ahead of the transfer window slamming shut on Friday night.
