Tottenham are readying a move to sign Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis as newly appointed White Hart Lane boss Tim Sherwood looks to improve his ailing attack according to the Metro.
The North London club are looking for striking bargains, with chairman Daniel Levy no doubt reticent to fork out large sums on new strikers given the £50m+ paid out to bring in Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado from AS Roma and Valencia respectively.
A move for Gomis may be a wise one to consider and this source believes that Lyon may only ask for £5m for the French international, who has stated he wishes to leave the Ligue 1 side.
Newcastle United and Rubin Kazan both wanted Gomis over the summer but a move to Tottenham may prove more likely in January as his contract is speeding towards it’s conclusion and Lyon will look to make some money from the forward’s sale to avoid losing the 28 year old on a free transfer.
Tottenham have scored just 19 goals in 18 Premier League fixtures this season and Gomis may be the man to rectify the situation.
The powerful forward is well built for life in the English top tier and has been in decent form this season scoring nine goals in 17 starts in all competitions.
