This source quotes Portuguese publication A Bola as stating that Brendan Rodgers is ready to offer €16m (£13m) bid for the Porto forward, who is currently in the middle of a season long loan at Serie A side Verona.
The move would therefore mean that whilst the 20 year old forward, dubbed the ‘Next Lionel Messi‘ could sign for the Anfield club he couldn’t move to the Merseyside club until next summer.
Barcelona and Inter Milan are also keen on the pint sized attacker, who has been a big success since his move to newly promoted Serie A side Verona.
Iturbe has scored four goals in 11 Serie A starts this season, form that has helped Andrea Mandorlini’s side to maintain their presence in or around the top six for much of the current campaign.
Rodgers will have been pleased with the goal-scoring exploits of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge but with Iago Aspas failing to prove effective and loaned in Chelsea man struggling to make an impact there is perhaps scope for a move to bring in further attackers.
Iturbe can play either out wide or in a central striking berth and is a player with a very bright future.
