Each side has apparently been keeping close tabs on the exciting playmaker of late with a view to possibly landing the player next month, with Calhanoglu’s agent even claiming recently that he is expecting an imminent offer for his client from the Premier League leaders.
However, the Bundesliga outfit have now responded to all this recent speculation by telling the Gunners and the Merseysiders to forget about even making a bid for the in-demand Turkey international.
Calhanoglu, who only arrived at Hamburg from fellow German outfit Karlsruher SC in the summer of 2012 on a four-year deal, is currently enjoying an eye-catching campaign for his club, with the 19-year-old having so far managed to register an impressive four goals and three assists in total in his 18 matches in all competitions, including an equally outstanding four strikes and two assists in his 15 league outings.
But with a contract at Hamburg that now runs until June 30 2016, it will not be easy for either Arsenal or the Reds to land the German-born starlet in January.
