The 26 year old Italian international has started the current campaign with a bang, leading to a growing interest in his services as well as an extended run in Cesare Prandelli’s national team set-up.
Man United are also said to be interested in the former Fiorentina man who has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 11 Serie A appearances this season.
Head Coach Giampiero Ventura is keen to keep Cerci at Torino, but negotiations over a new contract extension have proven problematic and the £16m rated wide-man may now be keen to pursue a move to one of Europe’s ‘Elite’.
Brendan Rodgers may well feel the addition of more wide attacking guile could help boost his side’s push for a coveted Champions League berth.
With youngster Raheem Sterling perhaps failing to hit the heights of last term and with Stewart Downing having been sold to West Ham over the summer there is perhaps scope for the investment in Cerci, not least as the club have felt the need to bring in Chelsea’s Victor Moses on a loan deal and the Torino man could be a better long term solution.
