Red Devils announce another late purchase.
Check in to Manchester United vs Crystal Palace
Manchester United have made a late announcement on the completion of another deadline day transfer, with the club’s official site confirming the signing of Swiss teenager Saidy Janko for an undisclosed fee.
The Red Devils managed to complete a move for the 17-year-old before the passing of last night’s transfer deadline, though the £27.5m signing of Belgian international midfielder Marouane Fellaini from Everton rather stole the headlines.
Janko arrives from Swiss side FC Zurich after impressing United scouts at this year’s FIFA Blue Stars Tournament, and will now join as part of the club’s youth team.
The exciting teenager looks a good prospect at either the right side of midfield or at right full-back, and will hope to put himself in the first-team plans of David Moyes in a few years’ time.
Moyes has been keen to invest in youth this summer, with his only other signing apart from Fellaini and Janko being Uruguayan youngster Guillermo Varela, a 20-year-old right-back, who impressed after a trial period with United.
United had hoped to pull through some other late deals last night, but missed out on Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera and Real Madrid pair Sami Khedira and Fabio Coentrao.
