Willian’s move to Spurs edges closer.
Tottenham are closing in on the £30million signing of Brazil forward Willian from Anzhi Makhachkala, with the Independent reporting that he has arrived in London for a medical with the club.
The 25-year-old will be the latest in the line of big-name signings made by Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas this summer, joining fellow countryman Paulinho at White Hart Lane, as well as Roberto Soldado and Etienne Capoue.
Liverpool had also been strongly linked with the former Shakhtar Donetsk man, but a move to Tottenham could be finalised shortly with the successful completion of his medical in London.
Rumours suggest that the spending may not end there for Spurs, as the north Londoners are also set to enter talks with Roma over the £30million signing of Argentine starlet Erik Lamela.
These deals would take Spurs past Manchester City as the highest spending club in the Premier League this summer, and give them a real boost in their bid to make the top four, even if star player Gareth Bale still makes the move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
It is not yet clear if these players are being brought in to persuade Bale of the club’s ambitions, or if they are being lined up as replacements in advance of his big-money move to the Bernabeu.
