Colombian youngster no longer en route to the Emirates.
Colombian side Atletico Nacional have confirmed that Sebastian Perez will not be joining Arsenal this summer despite just completing a successful trail with the Premier League outfit, Sky Sports reports.
The 20-year-old midfielder spent time in north London this summer and even featured in the club’s 3-1 victory over Manchester City last week, however, he has failed to meet the necessary requirements to gain a work permit and his parent club have confirmed that he will be staying put for the time being.
Asked about Perez’s work permit situation, Atletico Nacional director Victor Marulanda is quoted as telling winsports.co: “We already knew that and were waiting for the response, but that wasn’t possible and the player will keep working with us.
“The possibility of joining Arsenal has been ruled out.”
However, Marulanda admitted that Arsenal aren’t the only club interested in Perez’s signature and the player could still move on if a deal can be struck elsewhere this summer.
“There are two clubs interested in him, it’s true. If there is any other concrete possibility, he will leave,” he added.
Perez has turned out 54 times for Atletico since breaking into the first team back in 2011, but he has so far yet to find the back of the net.
