Minchol Son: I’ll Give my All for Shillong

Korea reiterates his commitment to his club

The Red’s defender is optimistic about the start of a new I-League campaign and feels his side can learn lessons from last year’s relegation fight.

Son believes the sides new signings and pre season preparation will give Shillong Lajong the edge.

Speaking to Goal India, the North Korean said: ” We have started training under our coach Thangboi Singto. For now, we are concentrating on tactical training and conditioning. I hope we will be ready in a couple of weeks.

Lajong have strengthened over the summer, bringing in Cameroonian international Charles Edoa Nga as well as Trinidad and Tobago’s Cornell Glen.

Son confirmed the new signings are still awaiting international clearance: “the two new foreigners have not joined practice yet. I heard that they are facing some visa problems. For now, apart from me, the only other foreigner training in Shillong is Taisuke Matsuga.

“But, I have heard that Glen is a very good striker and he will definitely strengthen our attack

“People in Shillong are very good and football is also fun here. It motivates me to perform better on the field. Obviously I want to move to higher places and better teams in the future, but for this season.

“I wish to play my heart out for Shillong. We are the first professional team from the city to play the I-League and we will have to fight together for the fans.”

Son’s side face a tough opening encounter with Red’s facing newly formed Rangdajied United in the first ever Shillong derby.
