Forward encouraged by narrow loss

After the Malayan Tigers 3-1 defeat to Barcelona, Goalscorer Amri Yaya believes the game which saw his side match Barcelona for 45 minutes and even equalise to them, could act as a catalyst for the National Side.

Speaking to Sports 247 the forward, who also scored against Manchester United urged his side not to slip back into another run of defeats after such an encouraging result.

“What happened on the pitch today will certainly give us confidence. I hope us, players, will rise after this result. Yes, we played relatively good but we cannot lose focus in matches.

“That said, I have faith my teammates will deliver. Whoever is selected to start matches will give their all. For myself, I will continue to work hard, if not harder, and stay committed to the national team.

“Tonight, teamwork paid its dividends. We worked as a unit and played hard for each other.”

After a disappointing tour of Japan where they failed to pick up a single point, the two goal defeat to one of the worlds best clubs sides was a good result.

It will certain put the players in a positive frame of mind for the forth coming Asian Cup Qualifying games, against UAE, Bahrain (twice) and Qatar.
