Liverpool are keeping tabs on highly-rated Groningen forward Richairo Zivkovic, reports Dutch source De Telegraaf.

The Reds have sent scouts to watch the teenager and have come away impressed with what they have seen. The 16 year old scored his first ever goal in the Eredivisie last week against NEC, making him the youngest ever scorer for Groningen. Liverpool are to make their interest formal this week with an opening bid.

Seen as one of the hottest young talents in Dutch football right now, Zivkovic has been tipped to experience the same success in Europe as former Eredivisie stars Luis Suarez and Arjen Robben have endured. Zivkovic is of Serbian origin, and their national team setup are desperate to keep hold of him on an international level.

Liverpool are building a strong relationship with Groningen and hope this continues going forward having sent attacking midfielder Krisztian Adorjan on loan to the Dutch side this summer, and hope this has a good influence on a potential deal to bring Zivkovic to Anfield this summer. Club managing director Hans Nijland claims the Reds have been tracking the young forward for some time.

Liverpool have seen mixed results from bringing players to the club from Holland in recent times. Forwards Luis Suarez and Dirk Kuyt can be deemed success’ by the club in terms of their production and impact, but Ryan Babel and Oussama Assaidi both failed to impress during their spells at the club.
