U23 coach sets high standards
The national youth side have been based in Slovakia since March, playing a total of 22 games in Europe.
The idea behind the tour of Europe of which they won four games and drew five, was to prepare for two important tournaments.
The Merdeka Tourament held in Kauntan in Sepember, Jordan Singapore Thailand and Indonesia have all agreed to take part in a cup held in honour of Malaysian Independence.
Also, the big event of the year, the South East Asia games, to be held in Myanmar in December.
Speaking to the New Straits Times he said: ” It was good exposure. After the training and games we played in Europe, the team are ready for the the tournaments coming up. But our focus, more importantly, is on the Sea Games
“Whether the trip was worth it or not will depend on whether we win gold at the Sea Games.If we do, then it is worth it but if we don’t at least make the semi-finals, then it would have been a waste of time.”
As part of the preparation for the SEA games, the Young tigers travelled to Russia to compete in the World University games, Finishing 8th and beat Italy in the process.
