Lyon Fear Bafetimbi Gomis Deal To Newcastle United Is Dead In The Water

President feeling pessimistic over striker deal.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has said that he is unsure whether Bafetimbi Gomis’ move to Newcastle United will actually go ahead now, revealing he feels ‘very pessimistic’, Sky Sports reports.

Terms between the two clubs was agreed over the weekend, but the deal has yet to be completed after talks hit a snag over solidarity payments and agents’ fees

Now Aulas has told L’Equipe that the deal is in some doubt, and is quoted as saying: “Gomis? I am very disappointed the operation could not be sorted out with Newcastle.

“Personally, I am very pessimistic (about Gomis). If we won’t find any solution by August 30th, Bafe will join back with the group.”

“My biggest wish is for us to qualify for the Champions League and to settle the case of Bafetimbi Gomis.

“If he doesn’t want to leave, he should re-sign and not pass us off as people who aren’t capable of solving human problems.”

Newcastle have already agreed a deal to bring QPR forward Loic Remy on board for the season but were hoping to add another striker into the mix with either Gomis or Aston Villa’s Darren Bent topping the list.
