Lopez will be joining international colleague and Dynamo DP Oscar Boniek in Houston’s midfield.
Houston Dynamo have finalised talks to sign Honduras and Olimpia midfielder Alex Lopez. The Dynamo worked quickly to complete the deal before the end of the MLS transfer window on Thursday.
“I can confirm that we are engaged in serious conversations with Olimpia and Alex Lopez on a transfer to Houston,” Houston Dynamo President Chris Canetti told MLSsoccer.com earlier in the week. “A deal is not final, but, we are hoping that the current process will result in one before the deadline. My sense is that this is headed in the right direction.”
Dynamo fans can sleep easy now though, as the transfer has been confirmed by @TotalMLS:

The Dynamo had expressed interest in Lopez during the winter transfer window but decided not to follow it up. After watching him play during this summer’s Gold Cup though, the Dynamo’s mind was made up.
Dynamo fans have already seen Lopez in action, when their club faced Olimpia in the CONCACAF Champions League last season. Despite the sides drawing, Lopez demonstrated good control and attacking vision for the Honduran side.
Lopez’s transition into the team should be eased by the presence of his international colleague and Houston Dynamo Designated Player Oscar Boniek. With 18 goals and 24 assists in 51 appearances for Olimpia, Lopez will certainly be expected to provide a major boost to Houston’s creative side.
