Askander: we’re better at weekends
Coach of bottom of the league Court Young Lions Aide Iskander, has called for his side to be allocated more matches between Friday and Monday.
The reason for this is Lions, who have only managed three points all season, are unable to field a full strength squad during the week as players are away on National service.
Speaking to Goal Singapore Iskander said: ” I’ve done some research and it seems we never get results on weekdays due, I think, to National Service issues a lot of the time.
“I do hope we can get more Friday, Saturday or Sunday games in future as that’s when we have gathered our only points so far, when we have more players to call upon”
Despite losing 4-2 to league leaders Tampine Rovers last night, for much of the gameat the Jalan Basar stadium, Iskander’s men were equal to the Stags, who are 40 points and 11 places above them.
After the match Iskander spoke highly of his side: “It’s not easy playing Tampines but the boys did well, though I was not too happy with the goals we conceded.
” The passing today was good, but the fasting month and lack of training has affected the boys and I can’t ask them for any more than they’ve been giving me, really.”
