Lyon winger Michel Bastos has left the club to join UAE side Al-Ain, Sky Sports reports.
The deal ends Bastos’ seven year spell in France where he first played for Lille before heading south to Lyon back in 2009 and he will now link up with his new club in the middle east by penning a three year deal.
The 30-year-old spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan with Bundesliga giants Schalke. He enjoyed a fine spell with the side from the Veltins-Arena since his January arrival, making 17 appearances in all competitions as well as grabbing himself five goals in the process.
However, Schalke’s general manager Horst Heldt had admitted that they had little say in the future of the left-sided player, although they were not interested in his signing on a permanent basis.
“Michel Bastos is leaving our club with immediate effect,” Heldt toldWestdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung.
“We would have had to buy the player to keep him here, and we did not want to do that.
“With this decision made, we finally helped Michel Bastos to get his wish fulfilled.”
Bastos has also featured for the Brazilian national side on 10 occasions, scoring once in a friendly against Zimbabwe back in 2010.
