James McCarthy- Wigan Athletic to Everton
McCarthy was one of Wigan’s shining lights last season as they won the FA Cup, beating heavy favourites Manchester City in the final. However, the midfielder couldn’t stop Wigan’s relegation from the Premier League, which was confirmed a few days after the Latics FA Cup triumph. Since then, Roberto Martinez has left Wigan to takeover the managers hot seat at Everton and the Spaniard is thought to be keen on bringing McCarthy with him.
Martinez has already signed a number of Wigan players but McCarthy would surely be the most expensive if he were to make the move to Goodison Park. Wigan chairman Dave Whelan is demanding £20 million for the midfielder but Martinez believes that he can land McCarthy for £15 million. The midfielder would relish the opportunity of working with Martinez again and would also enjoy being back in the Premier League. There is no doubt that he is too good for the Championship and he could soon be back in the top flight at his former managers new club.
