Ashley Williams- Swansea City to Arsenal
The Welsh defender played a huge role in Swansea’s success last season, leading them to ninth placed finish in the Premier League whilst helping them win the League Cup in February. Williams has matured into one of the Premier League’s most physical centre backs and has shown that he can keep even the best strikers quiet. His excellent performances have led to many of Swansea’s Premier League rivals becoming interested in his services. Arsenal are reportedly the most likely to sign Williams this summer, with Arsene Wenger wanting to bolster his defence for the coming season.
The Frenchman was reluctant to pay Swansea’s £10 million valuation of Williams but has changed his mind now following an injury to Thomas Vermaelen. Williams himself is known to be keen on a move to Arsenal as it would mean that he would have the opportunity of playing in the Champions League. He has already said that he would like to test himself against the very best while he is still playing well.
