Referee Hilario Grajeda will wear a head-mounted camera so fans can see exactly what he does for 90 minutes.
Senior Director of Communications for the MLS Will Kuhns has tweeted a picture as a little teaser for the fans before Wednesday’s big MLS All-Star game – but it might not quite be what fans had expected.
The picture shows Hilario Grajeda, the referee selected to officiate the game, wearing a head-mounted camera which the MLS have dubbed ‘ref cam’.
The surprisingly large camera (seriously, we have them inside portable telephones at this point, what’s going on?) is attached to the side of Grajeda’s head with what appears to be an elasticated headband.
This means that fans watching the encounter at home on their television sets will be able to see the game through the 9-year league veteran’s eyes, hearing what he hears.
