Blackburn Rovers defender Gael Given is on the verge of completing a move to Serie A new boys Livorno, according to Sky Sports.
The 31-year-old joined the former Premier League champions back in 2009 and looks set to move on as he has now entered the final year of his current deal at Ewood Park.
The 13 cap French international is believed to be willing to take a pay cut in order to join the Italian side who have returned to the top flight after a three year absence in desperate need of some experienced reinforcements.
Once his personal terms have been agreed he will be allowed to join the Tuscan club as a free agent.
Givet has already travelled to Italy for preliminary talks that are reported to have gone well and has already passed a medical, though the club did release a press statement claiming that the deal was yet to be concluded.
“In reference to negotiations for the possible transfer of Gael Givet, AS Livorno Calcio point out that no financial agreement has been reached with the French player’s club,” read the statement.
Givet featured 131 times for Blackburn over a five season stint, scoring five goals.
