Emirates Stadium side linked with yet another big money target.
Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is considering making an offer for Benfica winger Eduardo Salvio who is also wanted by Tottenham and Manchester City reports The Daily Star.
The Argentina international winger is rated at around £30million by the Portuguese side who are understood to be prepared to lose Salvio this summer and now Wenger has reportedly put the 23-year-old on his wishlist as he looks to step up the Gunners transfer activity before the Premier League season kicks off on August 17.
After completing his move to Portugal from La Liga side Atletico Madrid in 2012, Salvio is firmly regarded as one of hottest prospects in Europe and he is expected to leave for a top-level side during the current transfer window.
Salvio, capped five times for his country, was a star performer for Benfica as they reached the Europa League final last season, netting 15 goals and that has attracted interest in the former Atletico Madrid man from England.
The Gunners would have beat off stiff competition from Premier League rivals including Manchester City and Tottenham who have both shown interest in the highly-rated winger.
Wenger is increasingly under pressure to spend some of the reported £70m at his disposal during the summer transfer window with just free-transfer Yaya Sanogo arriving at the club so far.
Meanwhile reports suggests that the Emirates Stadium side could make a move for Salvio’s Benfica team-mate Nicolas Gaitan if they are unsuccessful with their initial target. Wenger has been a long-term admirer of the 26-year-old winger, who is equally adapt on either flank, and he could finally formalise his interest this summer.
