Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts
Manchester City look like beating city-rivals Manchester United to the signing of coveted Fiorentina front man Stevan Jovetic this summer, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
The highly rated Montenegro international has been the subject of intense speculation of late linking him with a big-money move to a whole host of big-name clubs from across the Continent, including the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Juventus.
And now Premier League champions United are also understood to have joined the race late for the attacker who found the back of the net on 13 occasions last season in his 34 matches in all competitions for the Florence-based club, all of which came in Serie A.
However, it now appears as though it will be big-spending City who are to land the Montenegrin now that the summer transfer window has finally reopened for action, which will prove a major boost to new Blues head coach Manuel Pellegrini, who is known to be a huge fan of the 23-year-old’s.
Jovetic’s agent has been in the UK this week meeting with officials from Eastlands to discuss the finer points of the player’s £75,000-per-week contract in the north west ahead of a £28 million move to City.
